What are you leaving behind in 2021?

Hi friends,

I know you usually hear from me on Sunday, but I couldn't resist popping into your inbox to wish you a happy New Year! I hope you've all had a wonderful and meaningful holiday season.

As we consider all that was in 2021 and what's to come in 2022, I want to share a little inspiration with you. I think we can all discover so much by reflecting on the following questions:

  • What experiences were the most powerful & moving for me this year?

  • What was the biggest lesson I learned?

  • Am I holding onto something I need to let go of?

  • What am I the most grateful for this year?

  • What’s the one word or intention I want to carry into 2022?

I'd love to hear about your big learnings and goals for the year ahead!

I'll leave you with a poem by one of my favorite poets and philosophers, John O'Donohue. I often revisit this poem at this time of the year, thinking about how each New Year brings fresh beginnings and awakenings.

In out-of-the-way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.

For a long time it has watched your desire,
Feeling the emptiness growing inside you,
Noticing how you willed yourself on,
Still unable to leave what you had outgrown.

It watched you play with the seduction of safety
And the gray promises that sameness whispered,
Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent,
Wondered would you always live like this.

Then the delight, when your courage kindled,
And out you stepped onto new ground,
Your eyes young again with energy and dream,
A path of plenitude opening before you.

Though your destination is not yet clear
You can trust the promise of this opening;
Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning
That is at one with your life's desire.

May you have a safe & happy New Year! Here's to new dreams coming true in 2022!
