Reclaiming Your Weekend: You're a Firework

Hi friends,

Happy Fourth of July! I hope you're spending time with loved ones and relaxing during this long weekend. I’m sharing a few guiding thoughts as we prepare for the week ahead. As always, you can follow me on Instagram for more mindful moments and inspiring quotes throughout the week.

Where did we get the idea that strength, especially female strength, is in competition with empathy and compassion?  I love the quote below from Jacinda Ardern, which describes what many of us have experienced both personally and professionally:

“One of the criticisms I’ve faced over the years is that I’m not aggressive enough or assertive enough, or maybe somehow, because I’m empathetic, it means I’m weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate & strong.”

When we allow our authentic selves to shine we become better individuals, leaders, partners, and parents. The world needs your unique gift.

This week, take a moment to reflect on the ways in which you've dimmed your light to make others more comfortable. How did that make you feel? How would your life change if you abandoned those limitations?

I believe that everyone has the right to an authentic, inspired life. How are you letting your light shine this week? I'd love to hear from you. Hit reply to respond and I'll see you back here next Sunday.
