Reclaiming Your Weekend: On Being Kind

Hi friends,

When was the last time a stranger's kindness made an impact on your life?  Last week my friend Scott shared a story with me that got me thinking about the important role that kindness plays in shaping how we experience the world. I wanted to share it with you today.

Acts of kindness do not need to be monumental or life-changing. Sometimes the smallest gestures have the most impact. When Scott participated in a vintage car show a few weeks back, he had no intention of helping a perfect stranger, but the story he told me certainly made a lasting impression. At the show, Scott met a deaf-blind man who was there with his brother, who served as his interpreter. The man told him that of all the cars he had experienced that day at the show he loved Scott's Ford Bronco the best and asked if it would be possible for Scott to take him on a ride in his car. Scott was thrilled and honored to do so.

Together, they shared a short but memorable drive in a Bronco they both loved. While the man and his brother thanked Scott profusely afterward, Scott was equally grateful for an experience he'll never forget. He was reminded that despite our individual strengths and challenges, we're all more alike than we are different.

This week, I encourage you to consider how kindness strengthens and deepens our relationships with others. After all, awareness without action is meaningless. Something as seemingly insignificant as checking in with a friend over text can truly make a huge impact on that person's week, month, or even provide the motivation they need to take action in other areas in their life.

Remember: kindness also applies to how we speak to and treat ourselves. When we tune in to our needs without judgment and take action with unconditional love, we open ourselves up to meaningful change.

I'd love to hear how an act of kindness made an impact on your own path towards authenticity.
