4 Tips for Battling Winter Blues

Hi friends,

As I brainstormed tips for preventing holiday burnout this week I was reminded of how we all naturally seek out comfort and warmth as the days get darker and colder. Living in the Pacific Northwest, it's no secret that these rainy months can bring on the winter blues.  If you woke up an hour earlier today to gloomy skies, taking the time to find light - both physical and emotional - is well worth it.

4 Tips for Beating the Winter Blues:

Soak up the sun

Whether that's investing in a sun lamp, taking a vitamin D supplement, or just getting outside more, light exposure is key in the winter months. So is exercise, even in the rain!

Keep up your sleep routine

Sleep is vital to our mood and wellbeing. Keep your circadian rhythm in check with a healthy nighttime routine.

Get cozy

Hunker down. Did you know that sitting by a fire actually decreases blood pressure? Embrace the Danish concept of "hygge" and cozy up at home with loved ones.

Keep it simple

With the holidays right around the corner, it's easy to get overwhelmed. Setting clear boundaries and making time for yourself will help you find a sense of balance and minimize stress.

Where are you finding light and comfort this season? Hit reply to respond and I'll see you back here next week.
