Reclaiming Your Weekend: The Myth of No Days Off

Hi friends,

I’ve been thinking a lot about “hustle culture” this week. It’s so easy to lose ourselves in the constant pressure to be accessible and productive 24/7. But what do we do when it seems like too much is never enough?

With so many of us working remotely during the pandemic it became more and more challenging to separate home life from the hustle. As we slowly return to the office, it’s important to prioritize mindfulness and stress reduction. Why? Because hustle leads to burnout. Fast. Believe me, I’ve been there!

Before leaving the corporate world to start my coaching practice, my self-worth was defined by a demanding career that no longer served me. While I loved the people I worked with, years of 60+ hour work weeks and constant travel left me feeling burnt out, physically depleted, and detached from my own life’s calling. I didn’t know it then, but studies have shown that working more than 50 hours a week actually decreases productivity!

Making the conscious choice to listen to my body and live authentically changed everything for me. There will always be a deadline or another item to check off your to-do list, but you’ll never regret prioritizing rest and mindfulness.

This week, take time to take breaks. This may translate to scheduling quality time with the people you love, exercising, or meditating. It may mean setting a difficult boundary to sign offline and resist working during the weekend. But believe me, the hustle can wait.

There will always be a deadline or another item to check off your to-do list, but you’ll never regret prioritizing rest and mindfulness.
