From Sage on the Stage to Guide on the Side
This past week I attended a workshop on experiential design, and it was fascinating. I learned so much about adding various design elements to my workshops, trainings, retreats, and speaking engagements. The biggest lesson I took away from the course was putting the idea of "less is more" into practice.
That doesn't mean taking out the vital information on burnout that I teach to clients. Instead, it focuses on stepping back as the "sage on the stage" to cultivate participation, engagement, and community amongst the audience. What a significant shift!
I was so inspired by the course that I am building a high-impact, full participation workshop on burnout that will take people from feeling overwhelmed and stuck to empowered and hopeful. The more work I do in the realm of burnout recovery and prevention, the more I realize that this topic urgently needs our attention. Friends, I'm fired up and on a mission!
I keep returning to this Oscar Wilde quote one of my coaches shared with me. I'm done sitting in the stands and waiting for someone else to deliver the workshop we all need on burnout. No more excuses. I'm getting on the court and playing full out!
What unique, inventive, creative, and needed things are you up to in your life that you are trying to bring into the world? I would love to hear about them. If you need some support, I'm your coach!
