Fix The Job, Not The Person: New Burnout Workshops!

Hi friends,

I've recently been pulled to reach more people as a resource for burnout prevention, beyond my 1-1 coaching sessions. On Friday I had the privilege of leading my first in-person burnout workshop since before the pandemic and wow! It was such an energizing and inspiring experience with a fantastic association, the Puget Sound chapter of Women in Transportation.

It was refreshing witnessing humans engaging and strategizing with each other around burnout prevention practices. We were all in real-time...not Zoom time. Together, we learned that it doesn't take much to lead someone to full-blown burnout. They left with tangible burnout prevention skills for both themselves and their organizations.

Burnout prevention and recovery are so much more than the person, they're also the responsibility of the workplace. It is my hope that these workshops help leaders and individuals strategize ways to implement change in their organizations to prevent burnout before it begins. Christina Maslach sums this sentiment up perfectly when she writes, "The research on burnout points to a different response - we should focus on helping the workplace modify its sources of stress. In other words, fix the job, not the person."
