The key to overcoming difficult emotions is mindfulness

As we prepare for the week ahead, I'm taking time to remind myself that while no feeling is permanent, acknowledging our broad spectrum of human emotions is an important step towards living authentically. The key to overcoming difficult emotions is mindfulness. By turning towards our emotions, however challenging, with acceptance, we can let go of the control they have over us.
Imagine your feelings as a sunset.
Assign emotions to each color you see. Project your anger, frustrations, sorrows, and fears onto the clouds.
Pause and take it in. Remember that the sun sets every day. You can only spend so much time observing it before it passes.
Once the sun sets on the horizon, the stars appear and the day comes to a close. We are able to let go of our emotions and focus on the possibilities that lie ahead.
